O QUE FAZEMOS / WHAT WE DO

A NECI – PT é uma Associação portuguesa sediada no Porto que trabalha em rede com a NECI europeia desde janeiro de 2018, após um período de colaboração que teve início em 2013. A rede NECI é constituída, neste momento, por 14 países europeus.

N.E.C.I. significa Network for European Citizenship and Identity. É uma Organização Não-Governamental europeia cuja sede está simbolicamente situada em Chipre, na intersecção entre a Grécia  – na “velha” Europa – e a Turquia – na parte oriental do continente europeu – este país ainda por integrar nas instituições europeias.

A Associação não governamental portuguesa NECI – PT acredita no diálogo entre as culturas de diferentes países, com as suas diferentes etnias, religiões, línguas e os seus diferentes hábitos e costumes, mas também no diálogo entre as culturas de pessoas pertencentes a diferentes grupos de idade, sexo, sexualidade ou a grupos em diferentes situações socioeconómicas.

A nossa visão é a de que o diálogo entre culturas ajude grupos diferentes a perceber que têm muito mais a uni-los do que a separá-los. E para que esse diálogo se torne realidade é preciso que nos envolvamos e desenvolvamos. Daí que tenhamos como missão a promoção da cidadania ativa.

NECI – PT is a Portuguese non-profit Association located in Porto which is part of the European NECI network since january 2018, following a collaboration period that started in 2013. The NECI network is, currently, composed by 14 European countries.

N.E.C.I. stands for Network for European Citizenship and Identity. It refers to an European Non-Govermental Organisation symbolically located in Cyprus, at the intersection of Greece – in “old Europe” – and Turkey – the eastern part of the European continent – still unintegrated in the European institutions.

The Portuguese non-governmental Association NECI- PT believes in the dialogue between different countries, with their different ethnicities, religions, languages and their different habits and customs, but also in the dialogue between those belonging to  different age, sex or sexuality groups and groups facing different socioeconomic situations.

Our vision is that the dialogue between cultures helps different groups realising that there is more that unites than that separates them. And if we want that dialogue to become a reality, we all need to get involved and evolve. This is why our mission is to promote active citizenship.
